5 Export in the blood interview with Volker Neipp Who is the driving force behind the export business at ISGUS? In September 2022, Volker Neipp took over as head of the export team at ISGUS and, since then, is in charge of managing the company‘s international relationships. Together with his team at the headquarters in Villingen-Schwenningen, he is in close contact with the ISGUS branch offices located in the United Kingdom and the USA. He also manages the partnerships in France, Great Britain and Luxembourg. Mr Neipp embarked on his professional career as a travel agent, issuing tickets for ISGUS, among others. Having gained experience in various sales and export functions, he finally found his way to ISGUS. What does an Export Manager‘s day-to-day work look like? Regular meetings with our partners and subsidiaries are part of everyday life. While the daily exchange with Central Europe takes place in the morning, talks and online meetings with ISGUS UK are preferably held around midday and with ISGUS America in the late afternoon. Volker Neipp emphasises the importance of international communication at eye level and attaches great importance to transparency. He particularly appreciates the personal interaction with people he deals with professionally and still enjoys travelling around the globe. Also worth mentioning is the constant monitoring of political changes, e.g. with regard to the introduction of customs duties, that may prove challenging for ISGUS in its co-operation with foreign countries. Last but not least, his tasks include the comprehensive support of his team from the initial quotation to the successful completion of the project. What does Volker Neipp do outside of work? Our Export Manager is also an enthusiastic traveller in his private life. Moreover, Volker Neipp has found his honorary vocation at the Auberlehaus museum in Trossingen in his role as board member and museum director. Numerous guided tours and many exhibitions were and are initiated and personally led by him. In addition, he can be considered as “graveyard keeper” of the local Triassic dinosaur finds. In his role as an author, he wrote several articles on tourism and even a number of books primarily dedicated to local history topics. And closely linked to what he describes as his “culturally-bound nature”, he is passionate about cooking international dishes. He particularly enjoys Asian and Italian cuisine. What international experiences have been the most impressive ones? From a robbery in Lima to business meetings in surf clubs in Australia and extraordinary business dinners in Asia – Volker Neipp has had numerous impressive experiences in his career. His journeys to date cover a distance of 3,200,000 kilometres that is 80 times around the world. From musical performances in the Hohnerklang orchestra at the age of nine to professional activities, Volker Neipp has already travelled to around 60 countries often more than once. He is also happy to pass on this experience in the office by supporting his valued colleagues with holiday tips. ...mit unseren ISGUS IMPULS Digital Webinaren!
